In short: Streakode keeps just what it needs for you to have an account, your progress, your friends and, if you turn it on, the daily reminder. It has no ads, doesn’t sell your data and doesn’t access your location, contacts, camera or microphone. The only permission it asks for is notifications, and it’s optional. You can delete your account and everything we keep about you from the app itself.
Who is responsible
Streakode is an app made by Carlos Góngora, who decides how your data is handled. For any question or request about your information, write to carlosgongorar50@gmail.com.
What data we keep
Your account
- Email address, to sign in, confirm your account and recover your password.
- Password, which the authentication service stores encrypted. Nobody, not even us, can read it.
- Account preferences: the app language, so emails and reminders reach you in your language, and whether you already saw the introduction, so it isn’t shown again.
Your profile
- The name you choose and your title (Student, Developer, etc.).
- The profile picture you pick from the ones included in the app. You don’t upload photos.
- Your friend code, which the app creates when you sign up.
Your progress
- XP, coins, current streak and longest streak.
- The exercises you play: which ones, how many attempts you used, the hints you asked for and whether you solved them.
- The lessons you completed.
Your friends and your reports
- The friend requests you send and receive, and your friendships.
- The text of the reports you send when an exercise has a mistake.
Notifications, if you turn on the reminder
The daily reminder is optional: the app offers it to you and it only works with the notifications permission. On phones with Android 12 or earlier, the system grants that permission when the app is installed, so the reminder starts out on; you can turn it off whenever you want. While it’s on, we keep:
- A notification identifier (token) that the notification service gives your phone, and whether it’s an iPhone or Android. It doesn’t say who you are or where you are: it only lets the reminder reach that phone.
- Which reminders we sent you each day, so they aren’t repeated. That log is deleted after 7 days.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or fails, a technical report (device model, system version and where the error happened) is sent so we can fix it. These reports don’t include your email, your name or any other account data.
On your phone
The app stores on your device your session, a copy of your profile so it opens faster, the language you chose, whether you already saw the welcome screens and the introduction, your music and sound preferences, whether we already offered you the reminder, and the last notification identifier, so it can be deleted when you turn the reminder off. This never leaves your phone and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
What we use it for
- Creating and keeping your account, and sending you verification codes by email.
- Saving your progress, calculating your streak and paying you XP and coins.
- Letting you add friends and compare streaks.
- If the reminder is on, letting you know at 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm (Colombia time) when you haven’t done the daily challenge yet. The 10:00 pm one only arrives if you have a streak to lose.
- Fixing exercises with mistakes and fixing app crashes.
We don’t use your data for advertising, we don’t build profiles to sell, and we don’t sell or give it to anyone. Notifications are only the daily reminder: we don’t send promotions through them.
Who else sees your data
Other players: your friends and anyone who sends you a friend request see your name, title, picture, streak, longest streak, XP and coins. Nobody sees your email.
Services we use to run the app, which only handle the data to provide that service to us:
- Supabase: database and authentication, where your account, profile and progress live.
- Resend: sending the emails with verification and recovery codes.
- Sentry: receiving crash reports.
- Expo: the notification service that sends out the reminder. It receives your phone’s identifier and the text of the reminder.
- Apple (Apple Push Notification service) and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging): they deliver the reminder to your iPhone or Android phone, as they do for any app.
These services may have servers outside your country. We would only share data with anyone else if an authority required it by law.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. If you delete it, your email and password, preferences, profile, games, lesson progress, friendships, reports and the notification identifiers of your phones are deleted right away.
The notification identifier is also deleted when you turn the reminder off, when you remove the permission, when you sign out on that phone and when the notification service tells us the app is no longer installed. Crash reports aren’t tied to your account and the service deletes them on its own after a while.
Your rights
You can access, update, correct and delete your data, and withdraw your consent for us to process it, as recognized by Colombia’s Law 1581 of 2012 on personal data protection.
- Change your name, title or picture: in the app, under Profile, Settings, Edit profile.
- Change the language: under Profile, Settings, Language.
- Turn off the reminder: under Profile, Settings, Daily reminder, or in your phone’s notification settings. If you turn it off in the app, we won’t offer it to you again.
- Delete your account and all your data: in the app, or as explained in Delete your account.
- Any other request: write to carlosgongorar50@gmail.com.
This website
streakode.net doesn’t use cookies, analytics tools or trackers. It only remembers in your browser the language you chose. If you write an exercise on the contribute page, the draft is saved only in your browser, and sending it opens your own email app: nothing goes through a server of ours until you send the email.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything important, we’ll announce it in the app or on this page, and update the date above.
